Mount Rushmore National MonumentThe National FlyFishing in Schools Program is planning their 1st, and anticipated annual, "FlyFishing Fair".  This is a family-oriented competition that schools/districts in the NFFSP program have the option to make available to their students.  The 2 day event will take place in Spearfish, in the northern Black Hills of South Dakota, in the summer of 2011.

Qualification specifics will be determined after input from the Pilot Schools.  This process will be determined in 2010, allowing schools to conduct qualification trials during the 2010-11 school year.  Qualification will consist of not only casting accuracy using the "FlyFishing in Schools" target systems, but also involve an academic component, such as fish, aquatic insect identification, etc.

Please check back here for further developments in the future as this inaugural event comes together.

Mr. & Mrs. Bill Day, Co-Chairs
