NFSP Level 1 Certified Teacher

NFSP Level 1 Certified Teachers are the school teachers who deliver the NFSP curriculum to their middle and high school students in installed schools and institutions.

In the 3-tiered training hierarchy, "CTs" as they are called, are the "boots on the ground." They deliver the "Fishing in Schools" educational program to the students in public and private schools during the regular school day.  They are most often Physical Education teachers employed by a school or institution, but any teacher may become a CT.  Because the curriculum meets 4 National Academic Standards, there is not only prospects for instruction outside of Health/PE, but collaborative opportunity as well.  PE, however, is a "natural" because it is necessary to use the school gymnasium in which to conduct the classes. 

At least one teacher from each school must be certified by a Level 2 or 3 educator prior to teaching the NFSP curriculum in a school.  CTs, wherever possible, are assisted in their efforts by an NFSP Mentor, who is also certified by undergoing the same training they receive.  Such Mentors most often complement the teachers(s) by helping with the outdoor portions of the program.
